Defusing

When a group of personnel require crisis intervention a defusing or debriefing may be utilized. A defusing is limited to a group of people that were similarly involved in an incident and is facilitated by a peer. A mental health provider is often used in conjunction with the peer.

Typically a defusing is 30-90 minutes in duration depending on many individual factors such as the nature of incident, number of personnel attending the defusing, and concerns/questions the attendees may have.
